Revolutionizing biofuel by turning waste into wealth and sustainability.

GrowDiesel isn’t simply the fuel in the transition to clean energy. Alongside working with governments, corporations, and big oil and clean energy sectors, to maximize stakeholder profits, we are also an effort to make the world a better place. And this effort started in 2001, with research on biofuel when our founder learned about it in London when he decided to skip lunch and attend a conference instead. A conference on biofuels.

Fast forward to 2003 when the Government of India’s planning commission (Now Niti Aayog) made a task force to research biofuels. There, the same founder, Mr. Atul Saxena became a key member. By 2005, we had enough information to start a venture- GrowDiesel, which worked to transition away from fossil fuels and to biofuel using high-yielding Jatropha seeds planted in wastelands near Mumbai and other states of India. Yet, the use of land and monoculture would have negative impacts on the planet and despite us partnering on a 2 billion project with Indian Railways that year, we continued to innovate. 

In 2006, despite our reservations about land use regarding them, we still established five biodiesel production units, followed by the establishment of low cost enclosed photobioreactor systems for algae based biofuel in 2008. Clearly this would solve the land and plantation issues. We ended 2008 with the establishment of a commercial biodiesel plant.

Eventually, we at Growdiesel developed and commercialized technologies to get biofuel from sources like Moringa, Napier Grass, Press Mud, and Paddy Stubble. But Growdiesel’s Waste to Wealth ideology, is just like Rome. It wasn’t developed in a day. This revolutionary idea that now makes our work with government, private entities, low-impact and circular, happened in 2009. Then, we found a way from waste to wealth aka make biofuel and biogas from what would otherwise end up in landfills.The rest was history.

In 2010, we made the theory a reality in partnership with the Delhi government. And in 2011, with the Maharashtra government, we launched India’s first municipal waste to biofuel project!

Since then it’s been upgrades to allow us to incorporate different types of waste into the pipeline and steady growth. Our specialization lies in turning high-risk ideas into high-value businesses with intensive research and the fabrication of small manufacturing plants that are extensively worked upon. This approach gives us valuable real life experience which allows us to thrive in any energy and oil sector, whether it be fueling cars or educating people about what we do.

The use of Growdiesel NextGenFuels™ and our research, curated in our labs, results in great savings and fresh investments in designing and developing new infrastructure for the bioenergy sector that is pegged to be at US$ four trillion by the year 2030.
